About Me

I am an Economics Professor at Cal Poly, in beautiful San Luis Obispo, California. I have one daughter and one son. In my free time I love to go rock climbing and partner dancing.

I started practicing meditation in 1988 and began studying Zen in 1995, Theravada in 1999 and Dzogchen in 2005. I am currently a student of Shinzen Young and his uniquely integrative Unified Mindfulness system. I became a Unified Mindfulness L2 Coach in 2018.

I have been a student of The Work of Byron Katie since 2002, completed my first nine day School for The Work in 2004 and first became a Certified Facilitator of The Work in 2007. Now, whenever my schedule allows, I co-teach eCourses for the Institute for The Work, staff the School for The Work, the No-Body Intensive, and volunteer at the Do The Work Helpline.

I created this website so that I can share with you the ways in which I have brought The Work and its wisdom into different aspects of my life. While all the thoughts and ideas may seem disparate, they all share a common source: Bringing the turnarounds to life. In Katie's words:

What you want to get, give it. That's the way you get it.
